We could see our goal from Harombo huts...Uhuru peak, which is at an elevation of 19,340 ft. I have to admit I was pretty nervous looking at it, wasnt sure how we would make it up there.
The mountaintop is noted for its snowcap, but the area covered by snow has decreased sharply since the early 1990s and is expected to melt in the next 15 years:(

Very close quarters....the hut could sleep 4 people, but luckily for us, it was just the 3 of us.

Mount Kili actually has two peaks. Uhuru and Mawenzi (17,564 ft), which are joined by a broad saddle. You cant actually hike to Mawenzi unless you have proper rock climbing gear.

We spent an extra day at Harombo huts to acclimatize to the altitude. I thought we would have a day of rest, but our guide insisted that we hike to the zebra rock, which was 500 ft greater in elevation. Bummmer!!

At night, there wasnt much to do, since there was no TV and it was to cramped to stay in the hut. Luckily for us, we brought cards and this guy, Paul from London taught us to play Sevens, which is a great game to make friends.
